A heat resistant spray paint designed to withstand temperatures up to 1200F (648 C) on a continuous basis. Creates a porcelain-like bond at high temperatures. Resists peeling, loss of adhesion, and blistering. Must be heat cured at a minimum temperature of 400F for two hours. Do not use a primer.

Yes, this paint is made for metal surface applications. It will work well, but the surface needs to be cleaned first and sanding may be required.

The High Temperature Series (Hot Spot) was designed for the application to steel substrates, not aluminum. Not sure what the adhesion would be like on aluminum. We have not tested this product submersed in water. In either case, we would NOT recommend the 16-2668 for this application.

The paint doesn’t act as an insulator. So, while the paint will resist the heat it won’t protect the substrate from the effects of heat if that makes sense.

If you let the paint dry so you can handle the object, there would be next to no solvents remaining in the coating that would outgas during the baking process. You don’t necessarily need to bake it as the paint will cure on its own (2-3 days in warm weather), but baking accelerates the process.
