I have a truck bed that had Rhino line bed liner applied. It’s starting to fade and lift. Can I clean and reapply your product on top of the old bed line
Upvote if this was helpful (0) Downvote if this was not helpful (0) Flag for removal
Answer
Seymour Paint –
Thanks for reaching out and for your interest in our 2K Protective Coating Spray-On Kit!
While our product can technically be applied over an existing bed liner like Rhino Lining, we want to be transparent â we cannot guarantee adhesion if applied over another coating. Our 2K Protective Coating will only bond as well as the surface beneath it. If the existing Rhino liner is lifting or compromised in any way, it could cause the new coating to fail prematurely.
For best and most durable results, we strongly recommend removing the Rhino liner completely and prepping the bare truck bed before applying our product. If thatâs not possible, youâll need to:
1. Remove all loose or peeling material â Sand, scrape, or wire brush off any areas that arenât fully bonded.
2. Thoroughly scuff the remaining surface â The goal is to create a rough, uniform surface to help promote adhesion.
3. Clean the entire area â Use a water-based cleaner like soapy water and follow up with a 70% isopropyl alcohol to remove/eliminate contaminants.
4. Follow the kit instructions carefully â Proper mixing, spray distance, and curing are all critical.
We appreciate your understanding â surface prep is everything when it comes to getting a long-lasting finish. Let us know if you have any other questions or if youâd like help evaluating your specific project.
