Seymour’s Big Rig Rust Converter can be applied to any iron or steel surface to penetrate rust and turn it into a protective black coating. This protective coating will be resistant to moisture and prevents rust growth. Just remove any loose rust, then apply it like a primer to rusted surfaces. Greatly reduces time spent wire brushing and sanding. Durable and tough, it can be left as is, but is also compatible with most top coats.
- Ideal for vehicles frames, engine blocks, protecting metal structures and restoring equipment
- Resists heat, oil, gas, abrasions, and rust
- Protects and does not flake, blister or crack
- Comes in a wide variety of colors

How well does this primer adhere to aluminum?

Answer

If the aluminum is old it will probably stick fine, but we do make a self-etch primer that is specific for this metal (#20-1681).

Question
Steve –
Should i use big rig heavy duty primer or your self etching primer on a bare steel farm truck steel bumper? The bumper will see a lot of abrasion with straps, chains etc. and I plan to paint with big rig gloss black after a primer. Please let me know what you guys suggest for primer and or paint for this.

No need for the self-etch primer in this application. 20-1631 will work great.
