Yes, I would scuff the brass with a scouring pad or 400 grit sandpaper to help the paint adhere properly. A primer over the scuffed brass would also help.

No, the aluminum coating would rub off in time. I would recommend our 16-132 dull aluminum followed by our EN-70 clear—it’s meant for car engines but would work well here.
